I don’t know what it is. There’s a contingent of humans who believe that if they ask me to speak or write about specifics on the political spectrum, I’ll acquiesce and change my paradigm.
To that, I say two things.
No.
Oh, and isn’t there enough of that available to us?
Two emails this week, both imploring me to share my views on subjects that are in the news daily.
“Tim, I think people would love to hear your perspective. You need to speak up.”
First off, I do speak up, and I vote with diligence. My friendships span a wide range of people who agree with some of my views and, at the same time, oppose others I hold.
I count it a joy to be with people who think I am wrong, and we can still find things we are aligned on.
Also, I don’t need anyone’s approval to be happy; try it, it’s comfortable.
So, as my last official written statement regarding writing about things I don’t want to write about?
No.
It’s a complete sentence.
I will no longer respond to the requests for an explanation via Gmail, either.
I don’t believe people come here to look for reasons to disagree. I believe they come here to take a break from all of that.
I write here to take a break from all of that.
On your own pages, I applaud your use of the Interweb for whatever you’d like to do.
My Dad loved and often quoted a sign in an old rural country store, a place that sold everything one could possibly need.
I’ve seen the sign a few times in my life, at similar locations. But I can hear his voice when I write it. I think it explains what I am trying to do, now that I think of it again, with fond memories of his chuckle after he’d recite it.
“There ain’t no place near this place, like this place, so this must be the place.”
I’ll keep it like that.
From the Jagged Edge of America, I remain,
Just TC
*As always, I want to thank the BMAC supporters of both the blog and FB writings. You keep this train running, and I so appreciate each and every one of you. tc
